Author A. H Hannay wrote, “for when face to face with actual works of art we can recognize the psychological processes which have gone to their making.” My work explores the relationship between my own experiences with multiculturalism through the expressions of triggering memories. I see my work as an exploration of key compositional elements with a narrative setting. My intentions are to help others seek their own identity and understand where we all fit within the cultural melting pot in America. Like many, I have suffered from “artist self doubt”, the debilitating fear of not being good enough as a self proclaimed artist. Through my educational journey I was able to overcome this challenge, that prevented me from practicing with new mediums and stunted my creativity. My creative process now involves having a clean and prepped space to create a designated space for my craft, brainstorming ideas, and creating thumbnails. This provides me with the means to explore the range of possibilities allowed through my choice of materials. Currently, my interest lies in working with oils and acrylic paints, but have plenty of experience with all different fields of medium.
